Our Story

Leonard Ng Wei Tat was born on the 13th day of July 1986. The son of an ink-maker(father) and of a teacher(mother), he grew up a dunce in his studies. Exacerbating this, his overweight build and his terrible approach in dealing with the opposite sex led to many early-life misadventures. This changed after NS and university when a curious spirit and a general disregard for his own well-being saw him climb mountains, ride horses and embark on a 6 month-long exchange program in Kazakhstan. Not wanting the party to end he came back to Singapore to continue his licentious lifestyle. Many girlfriends later, he met who he perceived to be one of the most annoying pedants on a matchmaking roller-blading trip.

After graduating from SMU with a Bachelors in Political Science, Leonard joined his father in the ink business, playing with colours and blowing things up. In 2014, he decided to become a qualifi ed chemist by pursuing a masters program at the University of Leeds in Chemistry, leaving his girlfriend behind in the process.  These days he leads a monastic lifestyle conducting Frankenstein-like experiments in a laboratory as part of his Ph.D. program in the University of Cambridge.

-Leonard’s Story

Low Xin Pei was born on the 17th day of July 1985. The eldest in the family of three children, she was hardworking and a whizz at her studies. She pretty much destroyed her competition when it came to the PSLE, ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels and made it to all the top schools. She attributes her success to her parents never-wavering belief in ‘use the rod, beat the child’. Despite spurring her like the proverbial horse, this philosophy had one major drawback. Any physical violence inflicted, was amplified as she defended herself against the hordes of boys at Maha Bodhi Primary. Nary was there a boy in her class that escaped the vice grip of her opposing thumbs and fingers.

Unlike Leonard, Xin Pei was incredibly sporty. She shunned skirts and was often in the sun, charring her already deep-rich naturally tanned skin. Her first boyfriend came in JC and her last many years later in 2013 on a rollerblading match making trip.

Xin Pei graduated from NTU with a degree in accountancy and worked as an auditor in PWC for 5 years. She then joined her uncle’s company as a mergers and acquisitions broker where she now makes a lot more money than her partner-to-be.

Groomsmen

  • LTA

    Lester Lim Tai An
Lim Tai An has the providence to be my best man and the unfortunate victim of most of my shenanigans through the years. Lester was responsible for bringing XP and I together on an unfortunate rollerblading trip, where thankfully no one suffered permanent injury. He’s also a prominent cyclist and spends his days buying and selling cocoa beans and chocolate. He is married to Cheryl Lim and is incapable of ageing.

  • ben

    Benedict Chen
Ben was born with a congenital defect. While the rest of us grew to the correct size and stopped, Ben's stem cells just keep on producing more and more of him. As a result, Ben suffers from insatiable appetites and just cannot stop eating. I went to SMU with Ben where I personally witnessed him put several buffet restaurants out of action. He seeks solace for his condition on his bike and with his partner, April Wu Junying, also a close friend of mine. When lost, Ben functions as the perfect landmark to orientate yourself.

  • nakano

    Nakano-San
Nakano-San is a member of the Japan Dragons. Nakano never seems to get tired and has more expressions than your average Kabuki actor. He is likely the one member of the grooms party who will be dancing on top of the tables by the end of the night. Please do not ask me why I put this photo of him up, he literally asked for it.

  • kian

    Lim Kian Hean
Kian spends most of his time in front of a computer. When not hacking into top-level computer systems, Kian finds solace in writing code, websites and eating burgers. I went to SMU with Kian. and discovered other unique features include his ability to make every fourth word out his mouth a vulgarity.

  • ALFRED

    Alfred Tan
Alfred is a common friend to all and a master of all trades. A rower, kayaker, dancer and all-round smarty pants, its not hard to get along with someone of his personality. Alfred is also capable of some pretty interesting antics and will have you in stitches. He never seems to need a haircut.

  • Ogi

    Ogi-San
Ogi-San is the current captain (and hence my captain) of the Japan Dragons dragon boat team. He was one of the first to welcome me on the team in 2013 and surprisingly never gains weight. His English is definitely better than my Japanese. Of all the groomsmen, Ogi-san also has the honor of being dressed up like a girl in front of me the most times.

  • Groomsslider

    Lee Chen Tong
CT is the youngest of all the groomsmen. I met CT in Cambridge as he was completing the Masters year of his program. CT struck me as a balanced, intelligent and generally high-foreheaded individual as opposed to how I usually behaved. He was also my date to the Clare Hall May Ball. CT is currently engaged.

Bridesmaids

  • kl2

    Kai Lian
A cheeky lady with keen eyes for beautiful moments who pursued her passion to be a wedding photographer. Being the tiniest in hall, she was 'volunteered' to be the ultimate flyer in the cheerleading team, positioned delicately at the top of the human pyramid.

  • Sk

    Shuqin
Shuqin, Lin Hui and I were tablemates back in DHS. My hall friends nicknamed her 'prodigy' because she looks like a primary school kid even in university days. Now she is a mother of 2 and an accomplished occupational therapist who is slightly paranoid over her kids' development.

  • Angela

    Angela
Just married to an ang moh in jul, angela is leading the high life as an expatriate in hong kong at the moment. She was the 'apple' in many boys' eyes back in school with a queue snaking fr ntu to some say pasir ris. She is an intelligent lady with a knack for brewing exotic beer

  • linhui

    Lin Hui
Lin Hui and I go way back to days when I was carrying a goofy green daffy duck bag in secondary school. After spending many intimate moments staying together in hall, we have become each other's 蛔虫 reading each other's mind. My trusty travel buddy who will plan the trip for me and do silly things with me.

  • Priya

    Priya
My partner in crime on the dance floor from salsa, to bachata, to zouk. She will always watch my back, and save me from creepy dancers. A very sweet and thoughtful friend who never fails to organise surprise birthday parties for me for the past 5 years.

  • Sabrinang

    Sabrina
Another Sabrina that I got to know in PwC. A smart beautiful lady that will make most guys take a second glance. Besides the good looks, she can kill with her graceful ballet moves, and delicious moist fluffy cupcakes.

  • Cheryl

    Cheryl Lim
We met back in college days in Hwa Chong when she was the song ic for student's council and part of the '三朵花' group. She spends a considerable amt of time in search of good food but never gets fat. Together her ex boyfriend, lester lim, she organised the epic rollerblading session where I was blown away by the Russian speaking boy.

  • sabrina1

    Sabrina
First met Sabrina in PwC when we attended training together. She is a multi-talented lady who is not only a dedicated mum, a commited worker, a freelance photographer, but also an awesome hip hop dancer.
